ABOUT US
The University of Karachi Alumni Association (UKAA) of Baltimore-Washington
Metropolitan Area, Inc. is established to promote the interest and educational needs of
students of Karachi University and its affiliated colleges ; universities (including DOW
University of Health Sciences, Jinnah Sind Medical University, and NED University of Engineering
and Technology).
UKAA is committed to providing scholarships to meritorious students, and during 2024, we
recommended 1,017 scholarships and so far have provided scholarships to about 6,500
deserving students. So far, $1.5M has been awarded in scholarships, and $0.7 million has been
invested in various educational projects, such as lab upgrades and the installation of solar
panels at various universities and colleges, etc. Currently, we have a reserve of about $3.3 million.
The Association shall be not for profit organization, dedicated to providing a
cohesive platform where members can interact and exchange ideas in an open and constructive
atmosphere. This organization belongs to the people who are in quest for justice, freedom and
who desire to promote individual learning and growth to help each other to bring out their

It also fosters a sense of community by promoting events, facilitating networking among alumni from diverse sectors, and organizing reunions to reconnect and celebrate shared experiences. Our alumni organization consists of two well-established teams. The Board of Trustees manages the endowment designated for student scholarships and oversees its distribution, the elected Executive Committee handles funding allocation, organizes fundraising events, and supervises infrastructural improvements for Karachi University, its affiliated colleges and other educational institutions located in Karachi, Pakistan. We are dedicated to supporting the academic and infrastructural advancement of our alma mater while providing students with the essential resources needed to reach academic aspirations.

We have a team in Karachi that is dedicated and honest, with a combined experience of 20 years. They collaborate with other institutions.

Many donors who visit Karachi periodically have verified the use of donations.

We do not provide funding to institutions; rather, we provide it to vendors who provide equipment after reviewing three competitive quotations.

Our members regularly visit Karachi to monitor and verify our projects.
HISTORY OF UKAA
How it all began.......
A meeting of friends of Karachi University was held on June 1, 1997, in which an ad hoc
committee was established to solidify support to build an Alumni Association based on sound
democratic fundamentals, and this effort led to the creation of UKAA of Baltimore-Washington,
DC area.
